A16020On 25th June 2016, a client of the drug-checking service in Perugia submitted a sample for examination, initially thinking it was a trip containing 125µg of LSD; the blotter was black and red coloured.

The sample was submitted to the colorimetric test by Lab57. It was analysed with ERLICH and there was no result/reaction.

The sample was submitted to RAMAN Spectometry and  the result was: INCONCLUSIVE

The sample (1/9 of the entire blotter) was submitted to UHPLC-MS/MS and the result was: 25I-NBOMe (60µg)

(The entire blotter was supposed to contain 540 µg of 25B-NBOMe)

Rapid information: : 25I-NBOMe is a derivative of the phenethylamine psychedelic 2-CI that mimics the effects of LSD. 25I-NBOMe can be recognised because of its bitter/metallic taste; LSD blotters have no taste. 25I-NBOMe is a very potent psychedelic drug and the trip can last up to 16 hours. 25I-NBOMe is a NEW PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCE: there aren’t enough studies on it and there are not enough records on the use of this substance by man. From 2012 to 2014, 25 deaths connected to the use of 25I-NBOMe were registered (21 deaths in USA and 4 deaths in Europe); in the same period 32 non-fatal overdoses were registered in Europe. For these characteristics 25I-NBOMe appears as HIGH-RISK DRUG WITH UNKNOWN AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SIDE EFFECTS.
